About

Me.

Me

So… who am I? Good question, but I’ll try and answer it best I can.
I am Lasse Havelund, a self-taught graphic and webdesigner (more the former than the latter), living in the town of Kolding in Southeastern Denmark.

My first encounter with webdesign must’ve been at the age of 8 or 9: an educator at the after-school centre I went to had a website with his personal portfolio, was describing the structure of webdesign to me, by having split up a cartoon-character by the neck, having the head and body seperately.
He coded the example in HTML, but obviously I hadn’t gotten the least closer to finding out what exactly he’d done (how did he create the character? What if I want to make another person?!).

A few years later, I purchased a book called “HTML For Begyndere” (Danish for “HTML For Beginners”), and started coding.
It was a mess; filled with font and pre tags, but it got the job done (sort of).

Without knowing, I slowly transitioned into XHTML, mainly because a friend1 corrected my code without even telling me they were referring to a whole other markup language.

Later came CSS, also taught by the same friend (which I still hate, but it’s necessary in today’s webdesign).

The Website

Menza.org started as a page of static, yet valid, XHTML and CSS. That very site can now be found here. There were designs before it, but I scrapped them and forgot about them.

I hope to learn php one day,

The current website is run using WordPress 2.0.3, with a lot of help from Extended Live Archives, Adhesive, Akismet, GetAMint, NO WWW, Contact Form II and Tiger Style Administration.

Stats are maintained by the incredible Mint, and photos are called from flickr, using the flickrRSS-plugin.

The theme used is RedPlanet with a bunch of my own modifications–available upon request.

That’s all for now–if you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

1This friend now lives over here.
